Governing programme: Constanta Port to be developed to become most important port in region

 

The document thus provides for the support of a consistent portfolio of investment projects in the Port of Constanta through which to ensure the increase in accessibility, in the maritime transport capacity of goods and implicitly of the increase of the volume of commercial exchanges.

 

The Citu Government also aims to improve, in the short and medium term, the conditions for navigation on the common Romanian-Bulgarian sector of the Danube within the Fast Danube project (value: 25.379 million lei / 5.22 million euros), ensuring financing for the continuation of the works of protection and consolidation of the high banks in the area of the Danube-Black Sea navigable canal; modernization and expansion of the operating capacity in the ports of Medgidia (value 102.316 million lei / 21.53 million euros) and Luminita (value 98.196 million lei/20.6 million euros).

 

Promoting projects for the development and modernization of ports, in order to attract freight flows: "Expansion of Calafat port infrastructure (km 795) and systematization of the port's railway device - stage I," "Port Braila - Port infrastructure works of the port sector in the Basin Doks "(value 127.136 million lei / 26.24 million euros) and the analysis of the opportunity to update the feasibility study for the investment objective "Arranging the Arges and Dambovita rivers for navigation and other uses" are other objectives of the new Government.

 

At the same time, it aims to draw up a strategy for the development of naval transports that aims to achieve a correct and concrete planning of investments necessary to be supported in Romanian ports, a resizing of tariff and customs policies, the creation of strategic alliances with the states on the Caspian and Black Sea corridor.
